In the advancement of technology in the modern era, many product or component
productions are found that rely on joining materials, such as in the automotive,
manufacturing, aerospace, shipping, and so on. One method commonly used in
joining materials is welding. Welding has become a popular method in the
manufacturing industry because it can reduce production costs while improving
product quality. This research aims to evaluate the impact of temperature on
aluminum using the Friction Stir Welding method and the effect of temperature
preheating on the tensile test, Vickers hardness test, and microstructure. Parameter
variations involve temperatures of 30°C, 180°C, 200°C, and 220°C. The results
show that the average tensile stress reaches a peak at a temperature of 220°C,
reaching 168.38 MPa. In contrast, the lowest average tensile stress occurs at a
temperature of 30°C. In the Vickers hardness test, the highest results were found at
a temperature of 220°C with a load of 100 kgf, reaching 89.04 VHN, while the
lowest results were at a temperature of 150°C.
